IPL ACTION n FERVOR

I could not keep myself away from blogging. Too many days of refrain especially when you hear NEWS items like Big B turns Blogger, Recruiters hunt for blogs to understand their recruits. These were enough to stir up the Old Blogger in me. My thoughts needed to be penned down especially because I saw the IPL match of Super Kings Vs Mumbai Indians.

Am a Chennai Ponnu(Tamil for gal), totally patriotic(with no jingoism) and when u have good players like Mathew Hayden, MS Dhoni and Ghony, I thought I should watch the match. Yes! I understand cricket as any rational Chennai crowd; not too involved but can appreciate a good game of cricket. But, am not going to talk about cricket or how I loved the exhilarating match on 23th April from 8pm-12 midnight; enjoying the whole time I saw Hayden having a blast and counted on Dhoni to continue further only amazed to find Raina's swaying easy sixes and wishing for Nayar's dismissal by diligently invoking all Gods. No, I am not to write cricket! This is going to be about few interesting thoughts I had in mind while I was watching the match.

Dhoni and 6 crores; it does not really rhyme. So, Why? He is an awesome captain who has had a good record in captaincy for past one year. Ya Right! Not much credit can be taken away from Dhoni, but, What I felt was the desperate need for India Cements to find their icon - The team composition has strong foreign players and lacked any local class in action. So, the only choice, to get the crowd, get the other C.

Kings, Lions, Royal, Cricket Ball - What are all these? These are my observations of LOGO of each of the 8 teams. Two of the teams shared "Kings" nomenclature, in fact 4 teams shared Lion as their emblem. The Definitive Demons shared the concept of their emblem with the IPL logo itself. The Riders also missed the cue for trying to portray as a Cartoonish picture(So much for SRK whom I consider an empty pot embellishment, i.e., A Great Marketer). All in all, there seems to be poor selection in the most important aspect of team building. None of the teams' creative designers realize that IPL is a 5year affair and Teams reflect Brands. (To understand What I mean, please head for their official websites or www.iplt20.com where you can find the teams' logo and details).

These are controversies I am trying to create through my blogging. Not many visit my blogs, so, I am safe to presume that my thoughts won't travel farther than few really bored people or interestingly nice ones who try to read my articles on my persuasive request.

We have to keep update of the controversies already lulling over IPL. Why? Because, it is interesting to note these controversies in an Marketing Mega Mela event. People can bring in morality even in a sports event. I meant the Request for Ban against Cheerleaders - I say, Let them Be. They are not serving any purpose; No one concentrates, Not even the Television.

Next is the issue of plagiarism of the Yankee's advertisement CONCEPT as IPL's. Do the Television reporters not realize we live in India where Innovation is not appreciated? Kudos to these people, they did a very close job. The recreation is apt and inspired.

Its an open and shut phrase when I say IPL is embarking upon creating the American Football league. It is the best investment for all those financiers and sponsors of the team and the event; It is India - We Love Our Cricket (which is not our national game).

Hey, its a good day today - the mastero who earns money without playing much...Would love to see him play though - Happy Birthday Sachin!
